WHAT MOTIVATED & INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS?
In 2017 with the support of my wonderful family I slowly began to build my business. i wanted to help other people avoid where I had ended up. In 2017 I began to study and a business was not on my mind at all.. I trained in breath coaching, mindfulness and as I had always been interested in alternative therapies, I felt I had found my calling. Once I qualified, I added to my skills by training in flexibility yoga, hypnobirthing and yoga trapeze. Most recently I have become a qualified Trigger point Pilates coach. I used friends and family to practice on until eventually I realised how much I loved doing this and how good I felt personally. I now had the skills to be able to help other women to de-stress and feel inspired.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
In 2020, I started my Holistic Health business from home. My husband converted our garage and turned this into a small studio dedicated to alternative therapies. Before long, I was attracting clients and word spread. All my clients used their sessions to offload their worries, take time out for themselves, and to relax. I have seen some amazing changes and feel privileged d to have been part of their journey.
WHAT WERE THE FIRST FEW STEPS YOU TOOK TO GET YOUR BUSINESS UP AND RUNNING?
I am an advocate by day and reduced my hours to four days a week. My friends have been fantastic at promoting my business too. You know who you are! Even my husband takes out my cards. I started introducing clients on my day off, overlapping the two jobs. I offer evening appointments and on line so that everyone has the opportunity to access them.
WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGES SO FAR WITH RUNNING YOUR BUSINESS?
My biggest challenge has been balancing work and my business but with my new found skills it has been a learning curve. A curve involving lots of practice and late nights and busy weekends but I love it.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES?
To overcome this, I started my workshops and meditation classes on a weekly and monthly basis. I try to keep one day out off each week and some evenings free so I can be with family and have a healthy balance. Never again will I go to the place I was in.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
The flexibility and the way it has become a family involvement too. My husband did the conversion for my studio and my son in law decorated it. I have three daughters and my eldest is my tech support, website designer and helps me with ideas. My middle daughter supports me with the school side of the business whilst my youngest is most often my guinea-pig for my qualifications and any new moves on the yoga trapeze. I have three grandchildren who all the love the yoga trapeze, have little weights to lift with Nannie and their own boxing gloves too. As you can see I like to keep fit in mind and body!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER ENTREPRENEURS?
If you are passionate about what you do, do it! If starting up on your own feels overwhelming, then break it down into small, manageable tasks. Meet with an adviser or a trusted friend to talk your idea over with. Jot down the pros and cons. Work out where you want to be and then take action on each stepping stone until you make it happen.
HOW DO YOU KEEP MOTIVATED THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES?
My children are my motivation. I never re-married or met anyone else, so it’s just been the four of us for nearly 10 years. Everything I do has been to provide them with a stable, happy life and they remind me of how loved and happy they are constantly. To hear my 15 year old say he is proud of me is the best motivation ever.
DO YOU HAVE A BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY?
My philosophy is to bring my holistic all natural approach to as many people as possible. I believe in yourself even when it is hard.
