Yoga is a form of exercise and meditation where breath and specific body positions are used to help connect the mind and body. Prenatal yoga focuses on positions that are specifically designed for your pregnant body.

How is prenatal yoga different from regular yoga?

Common positions in regular yoga such as those where your feet are spread far apart may be too stressful for your joints and pelvic area when you’re expecting. Positions for pregnancy are modified plus prenatal yoga also emphasises breathing, stretches and strengthening moves that help your body prepare for birthing.

Can prenatal yoga be the first time I ever do yoga?

Yes! You don’t have to be a yogi before you conceive to jump on the prenatal yoga bandwagon. As long as your doctor has given you the green light to stay physically active during pregnancy, yoga is an ideal activity for all expectant mums. It’s gentle and designed for pregnancy, which means it helps prepare you for the mental aspects of childbirth and beyond.

Hypnobirthing is a way of birthing that uses self hypnosis, relaxation techniques plus specific breathing exercises. This will empower you to have a calm birth and remove fear in relation to the pregnancy and birth. It gives you support, skills, information and confidence to have a positive birth.The techniques used for hypnobirthing range from calm breathing to guided visualisations. You will learn deep relaxation skills that you can practice, affirmations that you can pin up around the home too. You will have audios to listen to which will help you relax during pregnancy and birthing. The course will guide you through all the different stages of birth and give support. You will learn to be in control of your birth and trust your body.
