Life is complicated, yoga is simple!

Nothing could be simpler than Yin yoga. It is a study in stillness. It is the most beautiful, peaceful practice. Yin yoga is a passive and meditative practice that targets the connective tissues of the joints, especially the hips, pelvis, and spine. A Yin yoga class is a slow-paced yoga class that focuses on noticing what is going on inside your body.

A class consists of several long held passive floor based poses in the main. It works the lower part of the body such as the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower spine. Poses are held for up-to 5 minutes and often using props such as bolsters, cushions or blocks. This is to allow a full relaxation into the pose so that the connective tissues can relax such as the joints, ligaments and tendons. Apart from the effect on the body there is a gentle release of tension and stress within the mind.

I try to practice twice a week and I find so beneficial alongside my running, yoga, and weights. It is a heavenly just to relax for a length of time into a pose and feel the mind and body respond taking you deeper into the pose and as you breathe you can almost feel the tissues being gently stretched, squeezed and shift.

I can't thank https://www.yogarenewteachertraining.com/ enough for their training and introducing me to this amazing practice.

Here are my top three reasons to try Yin if you haven't before;

1 it melts away your stress and let's face it in a world of constant pressure and deadlines we need this.

2 it allows you to get to know yourself, listen to your body and be in the present moment rather than thinking what you are gong to do, got to do.

3 it builds resilience and mental strength. Holding the poses for five minutes helps us to find a place of comfort in a sometimes not so comfortable place. This we often need in our daily lives.

Why not join us this Easter Monday 7.15pm at the Blackhut, Kimberwoth. An hour of blissful release.
